To those who are learning piano, the piano exams of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music is a challenge of their talents. Each year tens of thousands of candidates take the piano exams. To help candidates gearing themselves, RTHK Radio 4 hosted the “Piano Exams Recital – Workshop” today (Sunday, 2^nd May).

“Piano Exams Recital – Workshop”was held in Studio One, RTHK. Pianist and presenter of RTHK Radio 4’s programme “Children’s Corner”, Nancy Loo, hosted the event. As a chance of exchanging experiences, a number of young pianists who have got distinction in piano exams last year showcased their talents by performing set pieces of piano exams from Grade 2 to Grade 8. Professor David Gwilt, presenter of RTHK Radio 4’s educational programmes “Piano Exams”, also gave valuable advice and provided constructive tips to the young musicians. “Piano Exams Recital – Workshop” will be broadcast in “Children’s Corner” of Radio 4 (FM97.6-98.9) on Sunday, 9^th May, at 5pm. Also aiming to provide practical and useful information to the candidates of the piano exam, RTHK Radio 4 produces the programme “Piano Exams” every year. This year’s “Piano Exams 2010” airs every Saturday and Sunday from 1:10pm to 2pm from 6^th February onwards. Set pieces are broadcast during the programme, while alternative pieces that are set by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music but not printed in the book for 2009 and 2010 examinations are also broadcast.
