The Top 3 My Favourite Young Music Makers 2011, namely soprano Vivian Yau, Ruan quartet 4 x 4 Plucked and bassoonist Chan Ting-yuen took the opportunity to give an impressive performance. Bassoonist Chan Ting-yuen contributed the piece Bassoon Concerto in B flat major by Mozart. He shared he found it most challenging to play tiring pieces, because without good stamina, it is difficult to play the whole piece in a high standard. Followed by that was soprano Vivian Yau’s performance. She chose to sing Saint Saens’ Le Rossignolet la Rose, Bellini’s La Sonnambula – ‘Ah! Non credeamirarti…Ah! Nongiunge’, Schubert’sGretchen am Spinnrade and Wilder’s Mulan – ‘Reflection’. Although Vivian had quite a small frame, her voice was powerful.. The last performer - 4 x 4 Plucked was a new group established in 2011. All members, including Chan Sze-tung, Cheung Ka-yan, Ho Man-hin and Lam Hoi-ki were proficient in playing various Chinese plucked-string instruments including the Ruan, Liuqin and Yueqin. They performed Tang Lok-yin’s Voices of Vivdness Dance, Pazolla (Joey Kwok’s arrangement)’s Fuga Y Misterio and Wu Junsheng (Zhuang Chenying’s arrangement)’s Torch Festival. Other than that, they also performed Four, a piece composed by one of the members Ho Man-hin.
