According to 12 Chinese zodiacs, snakes are often respectfully referred as “little dragons”, which are great signs of bringing people prosperous good fortunes. To welcome Year of the Snake, Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), for the first time, invited fourteen major electronic media organisations to join in and celebrate together in “RTHK Lunar New Year Celebration for the Year of the Snake” today (18 February, 2013) in RTHK.
Representatives of electronic media and honourable guests gathered in RTHK Broadcasting House and were embraced by the festive atmosphere. Accompanied by Cai Shen (literally “God of Wealth”), Director of Broadcasting Roy TANG, together with Deputy Director of Broadcasting (Developments) Leonia TAI and Deputy Director of Broadcasting (Programmes)TAI Keen-man delivered their heartfelt Lunar New Year greetings to all electronic media representatives by presenting souvenirs – traditional Chinese paper cutting of snake art work made by renowned artist LI Yun-xia.

Ricky WONG; Managing Director of Metro Broadcast Corporation Ltd.Bianca MA; Executive President of One TV Media Global Ltd.Jessie XUE; Managing Director of TV & New Media, PCCW Ltd. Winnie NGAI joined together with other guests, including Legislative Council member of Panel on Information, Technology and Broadcasting Claudia MO and Charles Peter MOK; members of RTHK Board of Advisors and RTHK Programme Advisory Panel to take a massive group photo. They also officiated the traditional “roast pig-cutting“ ceremony as well as took the opportunity to extend their best wishes to the public and everyone in the local media industry.
“RTHK Lunar New Year Celebration for the Year of the Snake” was complimented by the Chinese couplet written by veteran media practitioner YEUNG Shui-sang, which expressed good wishes for the New Year.
